Hello hello! Welcome to Honest Flow! Everyone calls me Tayo and I am the proud mummy here. Honest Flow is actually my "second child" (business project) and would have never manifested into existence without the conception of my first child, AromaCrafts (my humble little aromatherapy candle business). And it is for this reason that I'd like to briefly share our little "creation story" on how everything unfolded.
The idea of crafting aromatherapy candles emerged quite spontaneously one evening while I was trying to decide between lighting a candle or burning essential oils. Being the typical "indecisive Gemini", I thought to myself, "Gee, it would be so much easier and more efficient if there was a candle already infused with essential oils. Plus, who wouldn't want a candle that heals? Actually... I wonder if I can buy aromatherapy candles anywhere?" Before I knew it, I was extensively researching online until the wee hours of the morning, and while I did discover several aromatherapy candle suppliers, I realised that there weren't actually that many out there (well, so I thought).
Seeing that I already had a decent understanding of aromatherapy (obtained from my Diploma of Beauty Therapy studies back in 2006), I did the typical "Gemini thing" and randomly decided that I was going to learn how to make soy wax candles, curate my own essential oil blends, and basically, start my own business. Deep down, I knew I possessed the drive and skills to make it happen, so I took up the challenge.
At the time, I was more enticed by "starting something new" rather than "making money", which I know seems silly and defeats the whole purpose of starting your own business! But I guess you can say I'm a bit of a "risk taker". Plus money has rarely been the main driving force in my life. To ensure that I'd "follow through" (because I knew myself too well), I quickly came up with a business name, created an Instagram and Facebook account, designed a logo (incorporating sacred geometry), and publicly announced it to my friends. This was so that I couldn't "back out" if things got tough or complicated. I knew that I needed to make myself accountable, because when I say I'll do something, I always will (even if it takes me a while to get to as I can get scattered/distracted along the way). For me, honesty and integrity are values that I try to live by, so I always make sure that I "walk the talk".
Within 4 months of conceiving the idea in my mind, I officially launched AromaCrafts on 12 April 2019, and I am proud to say, I did everything on my own. From the website build, all the way through to product design (including labels, packaging etc). With that said, I'll be completely honest, it was NO easy feat!!! There were many sleepless nights, sacrifices made (shutting my partner and friends out to "focus"), and many moments of frustration, self-doubt, and fear. Thoughts around, "What are people going to think of me?", kept seeping through. On top of all that, I still had to juggle my full-time day job. Honestly, I was mentally and physically exhausted after two months into the project. However, I "hung in there", and finally got to the next stage of my journey... LAUNCH DAY! Phew! AromaCrafts may not be the most "professional-looking" business when it comes to "mainstream standards", however, it is authentically me. It was created through my own efforts and energy and for that, I AM proud of myself.
On a side note, I just wanted to quickly EXPRESS MY DEEPEST GRATITUDE to all those who supported my highly spontaneous "start-up journey". Your unconditional love and support means so much to me and is truly appreciated (even if it was just moral support in the end). I am so blessed to have such beautiful souls in my life, and am very much looking forward to returning the love once you each head off in your own direction someday soon... ;)
OK, back to the story... So while I was slowly building up the business, I suddenly came to realise that I had a deep passion for sharing my own spiritual understanding and truths. I also enjoyed sharing what I had learned about crystals and crystal healing through my personal experiences and research, and also found myself offering random Oracle Readings (this was all done via Instagram at the time).
Fast forward a year to 2020, AromaCrafts was nothing like your typical candle business and what I had initially envisioned. It had completely morphed into a spiritual platform of sorts and that's when a voice within me said, "It's time to shift your goals and align to your highest path. It's time for you to get to the real work!"
In parallel to to establishing my candle business, I was going through a spiritual awakening and was starting to align to my soul's deepest truths. I had received various clues from my "upstairs team" (and also several psychic-mediums who I am deeply grateful for) which pushed me even harder to grow spiritually and take the necessary steps and action to transform my life. And so, it wasn't long until I decided it was time to start planning for my next project aka Honest Flow.
Personally, I feel that AromaCrafts is far from a failure. In my eyes, it was the perfect opportunity for me to explore and experiment. It was where I eventually found the confidence to speak up about things that I had always felt inside, including the injustices of this world. AromaCrafts was a crucial stepping stone towards something far greater, and far more meaningful my life, and that my friends, is how Honest Flow gradually manifested into physical formation in 2020, and has been continuously evolving ever since... :)
Thank you to my beloved AromaCrafts for being the catalyst that made me realise my true calling and purpose. No matter what comes next, you will always have a special place in my heart, and thus, exist for all of eternity. ♡♡♡
